Is it a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture)?

Our winter produce subscription works a lot like a CSA (Community-Supported Agriculture) model where customers pay in advance for a share of the crops produced on a specific farm and then pick-up a box or bag of produce each week for a certain number of weeks. Our program operates on a similar principle, with a few differences:
  • We operate during the colder months only - November through March
  • Customers receive a share once per month
  • Because the food is frozen, you don't have to worry about using it up quickly before it goes bad
  • In a CSA, you are sharing in the risks and rewards involved in farming, so if the farmer has a good year you may get a lot, but if they have a bad year you may not get as much. Because we are purchasing produce to freeze, we will purchase the best of what is available each season. Although specific crops available each year will vary, when you sign up, you will know how many items to expect and have an approximate idea of the quantities they will come in.

Is all of the produce organic?

We work with a wide range of farms, and many are certified organic or using similar growing practices. We strive to support farms that are using sustainable practices and to work with farms that may be open to improving their practices based on demand and fair pricing. We provide information to our customers about the farm each item comes from. You can find a list of many of the farms we work with on our Sourcing page.

How much does a share cost?
